When paydays and bill due dates do not line up

Assign each bill to money available before it is due, then follow the balance in date order. A positive month-end total can still contain a shortfall earlier in the month.

The problem to solve

Rent on the first cannot be funded by a paycheck on the fifth unless you carried money forward. A monthly total adds the income correctly but can miss this timing problem.

A hypothetical example

Illustration in USD, not a customer result.
Cash on the first$400
Rent due on the first$1,200
Shortfall on the first$800
Paycheck on the fifth$2,000
Balance after that paycheck, assuming rent is paid$1,200

The later $1,200 balance does not erase the earlier $800 gap. Carrying money from a prior paycheck or an agreed due-date change can change the timeline; moving a date in a planner alone does not change your obligation.

How MyGood helps

MyGood groups planned bills with paychecks and makes their remaining amounts visible. Pro adds rollover and projections. The public example below shows the running balance and highlights the first date the plan needs more cash.

Common questions

Can I change a bill’s due date in the app?

You can edit the planning date, but you must arrange an actual due-date change with the biller separately.

How much buffer do I need?

In this simplified example the gap is $800. Your buffer depends on your actual dates, expenses, income certainty, and other needs.

What about weekends and holidays?

Use the date money becomes available and allow for payment processing. An estimated payday is not a guarantee that funds will clear that morning.
